preview.

A week (and a few days) ago my big sister married the love of her life. I can't even come up with enough words to tell all of you how truly wonderful the entire weekend was. I had the absolute best time celebrating this very special couple. I don't have many pictures from the big day (I was a little busy!) so I am hoping Jenn will let me share some of the fancy professional ones when we get them.

Until then, I thought you might like a little preview of the stunning couple...

Is my sister not the most beautiful bride you've ever seen?? I know I am a bit biased, but I'm sure you will all agree.

And here is one more pretty picture. This time of yours truly with the dashing father of the bride. Kyle's mom snapped this picture of my pops and me before things got started and I love it so much! (Thanks Kim!!) Love my handsome daddy so!

I have pictures to share from the rehearsal dinner, bridal luncheon and a few other fun times over the weekend. Until then, I hope you all enjoyed this little preview of our fantastic time back in Texas.

it's go time.

Hubs and I are headed to Texas today!!! My heart is about to explode with excitement and happiness. I cannot wait to hug my family, see some sweet friends, enjoy some Tex-Mex and SEE MY SISTER GET MARRIED!!

I have no doubt that this is going to be an amazing week and I am so excited that it is finally here.

Friends and family will be traveling from all corners of the country so please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers as they head to the Lone Star State. Please also send up some prayers and happy thoughts on behalf of the wonderful couple. I hope that this week is everything they have ever hoped for and that they cherish every single moment.

I plan on doing just that, soaking up every minute of my time at home. You probably won't be hearing from me until after the big day.... after my big sister becomes a MRS.

Enjoy the rest of the week sweet friends. Can't wait to share pictures and stories with all of you next week!

weekend in review.

Kyle and I have had such a nice, relaxing weekend.

I had an inservice at school on Friday and it was nice to have a day to work on our classroom without little hands getting into everything! I was also able to get to know my co-teacher a little bit better and I am so thankful that we are getting along great! Our room is looking adorable and is all set for the official first day of school tomorrow.

Friday night Kyle and I got all spiffied up and headed out to try a new restaurant. We had dinner at Parker's on Ponce and then enjoyed walking around the Decatur town square. It was such a cute part of town and we are looking forward to going back when the weather cools down and we can enjoy dinner on the patio.

On Saturday I had my first sewing class! My parents gave me a sewing machine about  month ago as an early birthday present. The store where I purchased it included a free intro class and it was so much fun! There were four other women in my class and we learned so much about embroidery. I still have a lot to learn about actually sewing and am hoping to take another class there soon.

Here is my beautiful Baby Lock machine (and my notebook from class... I took LOTS of notes!)

After sewing class I enjoyed a blissful few hours at the spa getting a facial. It was so relaxing and the steam portion even helped clear up my congestion... a win-win!

Last, but certainly not least, my momma's birthday was this weekend! I am so sad that I didn't get to celebrate with her, but we spoiled her from afar and I will get to see her in 2 days! Happy, happy birthday to my amazing mom!

Hope the weekend was great for all of you!

poor excuse.

I have no excuse for my lack of blogging except for this one:

I. am. tired.

The first two weeks of preschool have taken everything out of me. Week 1 was tiring because it was my first week in a new school and there was lots to learn and LOTS to do. Week 2 was even more tiring because the teacher that I work with was unexpectedly gone all week. I was thrown into a sea of bitty toddlers with very little direction. I  had more than a few minutes of feeling completely overwhelmed but did my best to draw on what I learned from similar student teaching experiences (I had more than my fair share of challenging moments while student teaching). It is hard to take charge and run the show when you are still figuring out where to find things in the school and you haven't quite mastered the class schedule. On top of that, I have been battling a cold all week.

Last night I felt the exhaustion hit me so hard that I tucked myself in bed at 7:55. I am pretty sure I was asleep before 8:00 hit.

Tomorrow is inservice day and I am thankful to have a little break from my munchkins. I love them to bits, but this girl is worn out!

Thoughts of a fun Saturday are getting me through the week. I am off to a sewing class and following that fun will be a facial at the spa.... pure bliss!

The rest of the weekend will be spent packing because we leave for Texas on Tuesday! That's right folks, it's almost wedding week! My big sister is getting married in 1 week and 1 day.... can't believe it's finally here! I have finished the first draft of my toast and am beyond excited for a week filled with celebrating.

Hope you are all enjoying your weeks. Tomorrow is FRIDAY!! I will do my best to have something a little more interesting to share next time. Until then, I will be catching up on all of YOUR blogs and hopefully squeezing in a few more hours of sleep!

workin' 9 to 5.

That little Dolly Parton ditty was in my head this morning. Why? Because I GOT A NEW JOB!!

I am now officially a preschool teacher (I'm actually co-teaching) and will be spending my days with the cutest bunch of 2.5 year olds you ever did see!

Today was my first real day of work and I. am. exhausted. Have any of you ever spent the entire day with 14 toddlers? It is tiring in every sense of the word but it is also silly, giggly, and oh-so-fun!

My new job status should explain my lack of blogging over the last week. Once I went back for a second (and third) interview, I really didn't know what else to blog about other than how much I wanted the job.

Now that it is official I am so excited! I had a great time working at the bridal salon but it was definitely not my passion and spending the day with these little ones reminded me of all the many, many reasons why I adore working with kids. I love the school so much and am so thankful for this new blessing in my life.

Just wanted to share the big announcement. I'll let all of you get back to the riveting Bachelorette finale now :)
